Patricia A. Costante is the founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MDAdvantage Insurance Company, a medical professional liability insurance created in New Jersey in 2002. Since that time, the company has grown its footprint across the Mid-Atlantic and New England states.
Ms. Costante’s professional career has been spent primarily within the healthcare sector, and she held numerous executive positions in the medical professional liability insurance field prior to the formation of MDAdvantage. She was also the founding partner of Costante Associates, Inc., a regional consulting and management firm, where she specialized in strategic planning, business development, market feasibility analyses, and contract management for healthcare providers. In addition to her Master of Business Administration degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business, she holds a Post Master Certificate in Administration from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and has achieved the status of Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the highest achievement in that field. She is also a Certified Healthcare Consultant and a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Fellow and Directorship Certified. She is an author and a frequent lecturer on medical professional liability issues, healthcare compliance, clinical practice and program development.
Ms. Costante is the publisher of MDAdvisor, a peer-reviewed, MEDLINE®-indexed journal for the healthcare community, and serves on the boards of the EJI Excellence in Medicine Foundation and the EJI Excellence in Medicine Scholarship Fund. Ms. Costante served on the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority Board of Commissioners from 2006 to 2008, her last position being Chairman. She also previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, the Board of Directors of First Bank, a publicly traded company headquartered in Hamilton, New Jersey, and the Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Care Corporation at Hamilton.
Ms. Costante has received numerous awards, including the Catholic Charities’ Light of Hope Award, one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business and one of Business Insurance’s Women to Watch, and she was a finalist for Executive of the Year for the NJBIZ Business of the Year Awards Program. She was also recognized as Modern Healthcare’s Trustee of the Year in the for-profit healthcare company category and as Woman of the Year by the Boy Scouts of America.
MDAdvantage has been recognized with an Outstanding Employer Award and an Award for Excellence for Community Service from the New Jersey Business and Industry Association and a Corporate Award from the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey.
