Patricia A. Costante
Chairman and CEO
Patricia A. Costante serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MDAdvantage Insurance Company of New Jersey. Ms. Costante led the formation of MDAdvantage during a time when the medical professional liability insurance market in New Jersey was considered in crisis by state policymakers. Since then, the company has grown to be a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance in New Jersey. In 2006, MDAdvantage was the recipient of an Outstanding Employer Award from the New Jersey Business and Industry Association.
Ms. Costante’s professional career has been spent primarily within the healthcare sector, and has held numerous executive positions in the medical professional liability insurance field prior to the formation of MDAdvantage. She was also the founding partner of Costante Associates, Inc., a regional consulting and management firm, where she specialized in strategic planning, business development, market feasibility analyses, and contract management for healthcare providers.
Ms. Costante is a member of the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Care Corporation Hamilton. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, where she also chairs the Building and Grounds Committee and serves on the Finance and Investment and Head Support and Evaluation Committees. Ms. Costante served on the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority Board of Commissioners from 2006 to 2008, her last position being Chairman. She also previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton. Ms. Costante was recognized with the Catholic Charities’ Light of Hope Award in 2002, was named one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business in 2006, one of Business Insurance’s Women to Watch in 2007 and was a finalist for Executive of the Year for the 2008 NJBIZ Business of the Year Awards Program. In 2011, she was recognized as Modern Healthcare’s Trustee of the Year in the for-profit healthcare company category and as Woman of the Year by the Boy Scouts of America.
In addition to her Master of Business Administration degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business, she holds a Post Master Certificate in Administration from Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, and has achieved the status of “Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives” (FACHE), the highest achievement in that field. She is also a Certified Healthcare Consultant and an NACD Fellow, which is the highest level of credentialing for corporate directors and corporate governance professionals. She is an author and frequent lecturer on medical professional liability issues, healthcare compliance, clinical practice and program development.
