RISK MANAGEMENT - Education Premium Discounts
A Risk Management Education premium discount of three percent ($1000 maximum) can be earned by successfully completing a combination of eligible Risk Management Education programs and participating in on-site services.
- MDAdvantage-Sponsored Seminars
MDAdvantage offers a variety of live Risk Management seminars on topics that provide physicians and their administrative staff with the necessary tools to help them practice medicine safely and effectively. These seminars are free for MDAdvantage policyholders and the majority of the seminars provide CME credits. Announcements for upcoming seminars are sent to policyholders on an ongoing basis, and are posted to the MDAdvantage website.
-Office Practice Assessment and Document Review
An MDAdvantage Office Practice Assessment is an on-site visit by a member of the MDAdvantage Risk Management Department designed to identify and discuss risk control strategies that address the most frequently cited issues in medical malpractice claims.
The Office Practice Assessment is also an opportunity for the practice to learn about the services and premium discounts that are available to MDAdvantage policyholders. Practices are also encouraged to share information about any innovative products, technology or approaches that they are using to improve patient safety and reduce their liability risk.
Following the assessment, a written report of the findings and of performance-improvement recommendations is prepared and sent to the practice. Follow-up consultation regarding implementation of the recommendations is available.
-Malpractice Prevention Strategies for the Medical Office Workshop
This one-hour workshop aims to increase physicians’ awareness of potential areas of liability within their practice and to launch a discussion between the physicians and staff that would lead to a team approach in prioritizing the implementation of risk strategies. Knowing the key risk management strategies to incorporate in a medical office will help to enhance patient safety, improve patient outcomes, and help physicians succeed in both patient care and the business aspects of the medical practice.
Online subscriptions present the opportunity to explore medical malpractice case studies for a practical, convenient and effective means of risk management. The publications uniquely provide advisories based upon case studies of actual occurrences for the purpose of avoiding similar liability incidents and improving patient care.
MDAdvantage offers a variety of online courses that they can complete at a time and place that is convenient for them. Many of the courses provide CME credits in addition to MDAdvantage Risk Education credits.
- Additional Discount Opportunity for OB/GYNs:
MDAdvantage will pay the cost for its insured OB/GYNs to take the online Advanced Fetal Assessment and Monitoring course by APS. OB/GYNs who successfully complete the course will qualify for a three percent policy premium discount applicable at their next policy renewal.
